Battery Operated Christmas Lights

!±8± Battery Operated Christmas Lights

Battery Operated Christmas Lights (also known as string lights, fairy lights and/or party lights) are in my book probably the most multi-functional and versatile of all battery operated lights as they can be used in so many different applications. The most obvious of course is what they're truly made for, the Christmas tree. By using String Lights it means you are not tied to placing your tree in 'that' corner where the only available power outlet is positioned. Or most importantly there is no getting tangled up in extension leads and cords running across the floor. Battery Operated Christmas Lights (string lights) come in a variety of colours or simple white which makes them great for every colour theme and the Mini Christmas Lights are perfect for a Christmas wreaths and the battery pack can be neatly hidden away so no trailing cords!

Battery Operated string lights work beautifully placed on a mirror as a table centre piece or draped across a mantel piece to give a warm ambiance to a room. In fact, if you don't want to light a fire, place some battery Christmas lights over some logs to give a warm glow, without the messy cleanup afterwards!

Indoors the uses of battery operated string lights are endless, from romantic settings, to some added fun to your son or daughters bedrooms. Of course you just can't go without them for a party. Wrap them around a banister in the hallway, around a mirror, in fact anything you want to make a feature of as they're ideal for drawing the eye and softening a room. Have you ever been to a wedding that didn't have Christmas lights (string lights)? I'd be surprised if you said yes. Christmas Lights bring a sense of magic to that special occasion whether it's a wedding, anniversary party, or birthday party and so on.

Battery Operated string Lights also come in an outdoor range and add a wonderful sparkle to your entertainment area. They can be draped around a tree and over branches, wrapped around pots, swagged on fences or place them in a large vase for a table centre piece and they are sure to make that outdoor party a real hit. The addition of some Christmas Lights means instant atmosphere!

Best Christmas Lights Show 2011 - The end is awesome!

WATCH IN 1080HD!! This christmas light display started out 6 years ago at a residential home in Crooks, SD. While growing in popularity at the residential site, it would generate lines of cars up to 1/2 mile deep with 2 hour waits to see the display. After the owners decided to move to a new home in the country, the show was relocated to the Western Mall in Sioux Falls SD, where it lights up the night and peoples hearts by raising around 000 per year for the Make-A-Wish foundation of SD. It grants about 5 children's wishes each and every year. The music used with the show is called "A Christmas Rock Medley" by Richard Campbell of Orpheus Studio in the UK. The artist has blessed the use of his song for the display. The musical artist is also quite amazing, playing every instrument used in the song! Watch his video here: www.youtube.com More information about the display can be found at the show website, www.westernmallchristmas.com

Christmas Tree Decorating Ideas: Trends for 2011

!±8± Christmas Tree Decorating Ideas: Trends for 2011

Everyone loves a Christmas tree, but sometimes you want a change. The same tree from year to year can get boring, and if you've changed your interior decor, you might find your old tree just doesn't have the same charm. So, how do you get a new look for this old tradition? Believe it or not there are trends from year to year. Here are some of the most interesting.

The Natural Look. If you're ready to replace your synthetic tree with something new, why not try a flocked tree? These new trees are convincingly realistic, and since they already have a outside of snow, halve your decorating has been done for you. Close them off with some more realistic touches, wrap the tree with a grapevine garland to add some bulk, add white and iridescent ball ornaments and if your tree is large, have them increase in size towards the bottom. If you want some color, add some red berry picks to the branches and add another touch of icy winter, crystal icicles dripping from the branches. For a little more color, add tiny birds. The consequent is very natural and realistic, and if you find it too 'cold' add some red ball ornaments in distinct sizes.

The Beach Tree. If you like to escape the cold for the Holiday season there's no need to abandon tradition. You can decorate a tree for warmer climes. Once choice would be an synthetic palm tree. These are ready from the big Diy market as well as online, and are a fun addition to your celebrations. They don't have many branches and so don't need a lot of decoration. If you are truly on the beach, why not fetch some shells and transform them into ornaments with some wire and air dry clay. The final touch would be some spray glitter. If a palm tree is no ifs ands or buts not your style, but you're seeing for something to match the cool color schemes used in many warm regions, why not choose a white tree? These can look remarkable decorated in a color, so feel free to match your decor, blue and turquoise ornaments are very beloved this year.

Think Pink. One of the most surprising trends to arise from the many new colors available, is the popularity of the pink Christmas tree. There are many forms to choose from, cupcake pink is a delicate shade and cries out for ornamentation in the 'ice cream' colors, in fact cupcakes and cones are a very beloved theme in Christmas ornaments this year. You can also find cupcake garlands. Slightly more avant garde are the shocking pinks and pink/violet trees which have appeared in the last join of year. Again Christmas ornaments seem to have been advanced especially for them; you'll find handbags and high heels another beloved theme this year.

The Christmas Tree is the focal point of your Christmas decor. Pick a new idea and enjoy!

Christmas Lights Design - Adding Twinkle

!±8± Christmas Lights Design - Adding Twinkle

Have you grown tired of your steady-on Christmas lights?

Perhaps it's time to add a little twinkle!

When designing your Christmas light display, there are several aspects of design to keep in mind as you make your lighting plans. Early in the process you'll choose the style of lights you want to use based what you like - from traditional C7 and C9 Christmas light sets, to mini lights to the latest in LED lighting. Christmas light lovers have never had so many choices. Next you need to consider a color scheme.

The most popular color is transparent with multi, red, blue and and green not too far behind. New upward trends in purple, pink, and teal are making the lighting future very exciting.

So, you've selected the types of lighting you want to use, you've decided on color and now you wonder, "what about twinkling and movement in my lighting display?" or perhaps you are thinking,"how do I drive my neighbors crazy with twinkle lights".

There are a wide variety of ways to add movement to your Holiday lighting. Let's take a quick look at a few of them.

1. Turn your steady mini lights into twinkling lights. That little extra bulb with a red tip is a flasher bulb. It causes all the lights on the string to turn on and off simultaneously.

You don't need more than one flasher per line but if you have a longer mini light set that is wired in sections, you can put a flasher in each section of bulbs.

2. Mini lights also come with built in controllers. These sets commonly have 140 lights and have multiple functions like chase, fade, slow fade, steady on and more. These light sets are like cayenne pepper and unless you are using them on your Christmas tree - that's classic - you should be cautious not to overuse these spicy lights.

Unless, of course, you like a carnival atmosphere in your lawn. In which case, go for it. Remember, those neighbors?

3. C7 and C9 Christmas light sets can be set up with 2-3 lines offset by 50% or 30% of the spacing between the individual bulbs and connected to a multi channel controller that will cycle throught the 3 channels. This will give your lights a marquee effect. (This is also a good approach for outlining signs.)

4. Lastly, one of the nicest and most elegant ways to add twinkle to your lighting is to sprinkle in a few C7 or c9 twinkle lights into your transparent bulb display. Imagine a wonderful tree, full of clear C7 lights - and every so often, randomly placed through the tree, a very few twinkling lights.

Twinkle light bulbs start to flash as they heat up - with about a one second on and a one second off rhythm. If you use just the right amount of twinkle lights, viewers won't necessarily see the twinkling action right away - they'll just see that you have a magical tree or two in your yard.

Steady on, twinkling, flashing. There are different ways to personalize your Christmas light display with light movement. Just consider it another part of your total design.
